I think I might wear this to my trunk show. I've tried on all the clothes for everyone at the shop and they all agree that I look hot in this dress. I think it might be a keeper. I'm really into longer dresses right now. My first BQ dress I'm thrilled! Can you believe I have sold everything that I have ever made? Is this normal?
Well, I was contacted by the casting director about the new season of a Project Runway. (Airing on Lifetime in the fall.) They saw one of my collections. More on this subject later! I'm leaving early this morning for our big photo extravaganza. Shooting part of the line today! Should be fun tah tah!!!
I'll be totally finished with my collection in 3 weeks and then it's off to L.A. I can't wait! It's business and pleasure. I'm doing a Trunk show and meeting with some of the stores that will be selling BQ and Mark is mixing his new record at the JUNGLE ROOM. We are staying at the fabulously re-vamped Roosevelt Hotel. They say it is haunted. This is the same hotel where Houdini's wife conducted seances after his death. I'm also going to visit my mother and spend a lot of time in her pool. We are also spending some time on our friend Keith's Yaught. I'm anxious to see all my friends should be lot's of fun.I'm really looking forward to going home for a few weeks. When we get back it's off to New York. One of my friends is having a baby. Her husband is in Joan Jett's band and she is having a shower. She is a lso a designer so that will be a blast!

I'm very excited about my new MERMAN CHROMIUM DUMB BELLE Jacket that arrived today. My friend Joanne Burke had it sent to me from her London studio. You can see a picture of her wearing it with with Betsey and Zandra in one of the photos. I'm going to rock it with one of my fabulous new LAYER CAKE dresses in L.A. next month. I was lucky to get this piece and she is also sending me one of her collars. The girl in the gorilla fur jacket is Joanne. I love being inspired by truly talented artists! Joanne Burke lives in England and Portland where she works as an artist as well as a designer of futuristic, art to wear, rock n roll label Chromium Dumb Belle. Her creations combine her interest in fantasy, futurism, music and her love of clothing worn by those of the glitter era. She is also author and illustrator of the Biba Dolls Book, which Barbara Hulanicki endorses as a 'playful and beautiful look at the magical time of BIBA'. Joanne was commissioned to create a limited edition range of artwork and books for Liberty's and Co London as well as designing artwork and runway projections for the newly relaunched BIBA label. Joanne usually works on most projects with partner Moni Haworth
We made a lot of progress at BQ today. We actually have a whole large rack of dresses and tops. My dream about owning one of my own designs might come true. Can you believe that I don't even own a Boudoir Queen dress ? Every piece we have ever made has sold.
My most favorite designer evah !
In the annals of fashion history, Paul Poiret (1879–1944), who called himself the "King of Fashion," is best remembered for freeing women from corsets and further liberating them through pantaloons. However, it was Poiret’s remarkable innovations in the cut and construction of clothing, made all the more remarkable by the fact that he could not sew, that secured his legacy. Working the fabric directly onto the body, Poiret helped to pioneer a radical approach to dressmaking that relied more on the skills of drapery than on those of tailoring. Focusing on his technical ingenuity and originality, the exhibition explores Poiret’s modernity in relation to and as an expression of the dominant discourses of the early 20th century, including Cubism, Classicism, Orientalism, Symbolism, and Primitivism.
Did my cats sneak out and do a shoot for Teen Vogue while I was at work? I need to keep a better eye on these characters. Ha ha well they look a little young to be my cats but picture # ! looks just like Tallulah when she was a baby.
I'm off to the studio. I can tell everyone that we have some pretty amazing new pieces right now. I'll be posting photos from a fabulous shoot in about a week or so.
Watching this brought back memories of some of the cool fashion shows that I worked on. Thierry Mugler Shows being the most fun. Many of you know I was a make-up artist for years and that is what got me into designing. Oh one other thing......I'm sure many of you are wondering why my blog looks strange. TypePad keeps updating and now I cant fix my blog design so bear with me please!
One of my favorite MURDER MY SWEET songs Garden of Earthly Delights has made the new CD. When you get a chance listen to it on myspace. Be sure to listen to the entire song. They had strings put on it I love violin in rock music. The new Cd should be in stores by Christmas.http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=40106895
Here a couple of recording studio shots. Not the greatest. This is where all the guys hang out. It's a little hard to photograph. There is another room for vocals and drums. I didn't photograph the guitar area either. After taking a good look around I noticed the studio needs cleaning badly! You can see a few of Marks Records that have went gold and platinum up on the walls.
When I moved to Austin this house was Mark's recording studio. It's really pretty small for us but we are thinking of getting another house in L.A and going back and forth more often. My son is coming in 10 days I cant wait! Well thats all for now. I hope everyone has a great 4th!
