In the annals of fashion history, Paul Poiret (1879–1944), who called himself the "King of Fashion," is best remembered for freeing women from corsets and further liberating them through pantaloons. However, it was Poiret’s remarkable innovations in the cut and construction of clothing, made all the more remarkable by the fact that he could not sew, that secured his legacy. Working the fabric directly onto the body, Poiret helped to pioneer a radical approach to dressmaking that relied more on the skills of drapery than on those of tailoring. Focusing on his technical ingenuity and originality, the exhibition explores Poiret’s modernity in relation to and as an expression of the dominant discourses of the early 20th century, including Cubism, Classicism, Orientalism, Symbolism, and Primitivism.

OMBRE HAIR

I haven't decided on which ombre look I will go for tomorrow but I'm doin it! I'm thinking about going back to natural (red) this could be a fun in between look. I'll skip the boots ; /

BOUDOIR BRIDES

I love it when our customers send us photos. I was so thrilled that the fabulous RobYn wore her custom BQ upper arm skinny cuff at her wedding. I think she is also wearing a boudoir Queen fascinator as well. She looks stunning!

The Cutest Outfit Ever

This luxe ribbon work baby doll-new Prada shoes and my fabulous new shawl is perfection for a debauched nite out! I did sell the fabulous baby doll today to to turn into a decadent BQ re-work...so it looks like I'll have to wear one of our kitty cat suits and lace stockings instead. BTW I hope all of you like leopard because we made some amazing new pieces. The leopard turbans are my favorite. Shoot photos coming next week!

I'm finally getting around to scanning some photos of my make-up clients from my portfolio. This is a photo that Steven took at his studio of Grace. I did the styling and make-up obviously this was taken during the Twin Peaks period. She is awesome to work with. You can see in the credits that my ex husband did the hair and we had not been married yet. This is an oldie. I noticed my dear friend who I speak of a lot did the jewelry. I had forgotten that! It also looks like there is a small spot on the eye. I have the original mags in storage somewhere.I have 4 books brimming with photos. I need to go thru them all before they get ruined. There's some really fun images in them.

Zabriskie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her father founded Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop and Lafitte's in Exile,[1] a cafe and bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, and Zabriskie has said that her family was visited by Tennessee Williams, Gore Vidal and Truman Capote during her childhood.[2] After making her major film debut in 1979's Norma Rae, Zabriskie went on to appear in dozens of other works, including the 1981 miniseries adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden, 1989's Drugstore Cowboy, the

1991 film adaptation Fried Green Tomatoes and 1995's The Passion of Darkly Noon. She also appeared as Paula's mother in An Officer and A Gentleman Zabriskie is perhaps most familiar, however, for her television work. After appearing in a recurring role on the soap opera Santa Barbara, she played a major role on the David Lynch series Twin Peaks and its spin-off film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me as Sarah Palmer, the eerily psychic mother of the doomed Laura Palmer. Zabriskie had previously appeared in Lynch's Wild at Heart — notably as the twin sister of a character played by Isabella Rossellini, an actress eleven years her junior. She was also chosen by David Lynch to appear as a sinister Polish neighbour in Inland Empire in 2006. Zabriskie may best be remembered, albeit not by name, as Mrs. Ross, a recurring character on the sitcom Seinfeld. She played the mother of another doomed daughter, Susan Ross—George Costanza's fiancee—who died after licking closed dozens of cheap envelopes (bought by the stingy Costanza) while mailing out her wedding invitations. Zabriskie's character's husband on the show, also a recurring role, was played by her former Twin Peaks co-star Warren Frost. She also made a brief but memorable appearance on the CBS sitcom The King of Queens, as the emotionally disturbed and alcoholic mother of Spence Olchin (who was played by Patton Oswalt). While the character of Veronical Olchin would reappear throughout the series, Zabriskie would not portray her again, having been replaced by Anne Meara. She has at times worked in radio, collaborating with radio dramatist/monologist Joe Frank several times. Zabriskie recently appeared in the American remake The Grudge, in which she played a senile grandmother sensitive to the paranormal occurrences in her home. She also stars as Lois Henrickson in Big Love, an HBO drama series that seriously explores the issue of polygamy. Grace also appeared in several episodes of Aaron Spelling's Series Charmed as The Crone.

GYPSY DAY and Special Thanks

Today I feel like a gypsy sorting thru my new found treasures. Mark and I have been going thru vintage garments since the wee hrs of the morning. I purchased many new and fabulous frocks , fabrics and findings that will be made into gorgeous clothes this summer. We are slowly taking Boudoir Queen to an all new level. I have several new items that we will be introducing next year. A lingerie line and our home line. We are also opening a new company which will be an extension of Boudoir Queen and another line which is hush-hush at the moment. Of course I am so excited about the Carney video with the beautiful guest starlet wearing full tilt BQ. I have seen the video and oh how I wish I could share! It is the best thing that we have ever done. As soon as I can say more I will ;) let's just say it's jaw droppingly fabulous.

I want to say thank you to all of my friends and clients who sent me all of the lovely emails this week. I also would like to take a moment to say thank you to all that read and comment on my blog. I read everyones comments and I'm sorry if I don't always respond. My life has been crazy. I haven't a lot of internet time other than working on my on-line shop.

I would also like to give a big special thank you to Altered Couture Magazine for doing such a great job on my article. I have been lucky to have a lot of press over the years and been in many magazines. I have had more response from Altered Couture than any other and it's not even out yet!
