I love these photo's of Laurel on the 4th of July in her Martha Washington garb. She is so fabulous. She just did hats for New York Fashion Week and guess what? She's doing them for Boudoir Queen for Austin Fashion Week as well. That's not all......she's modeling for Boudoir Queen too! I will do a full blog on her line with Christopher when she arrives here on the 12th.
Well.......Mark and I wrapped up Verushcka in a blanket and she was hardly breathing. We basically said our goodbyes. We took her to Brykerwood in Austin which is suppose to be one of the better vets. We took our dogs there. Anyway, I could hardly speak and couldn't stop crying. The vet said there could be a chance! She is almost 20 so we were shocked by this. They put her on pain meds, I.V. , B12 and hardcore antibiotics. She has kidney failure but they said to give it one more week and see if she comes around. I appreciate all your messages. I know I might just have a couple more months with her but it's worth a try as long as she's not in pain-I hope we did the right thing. xox Dawn
I'm sorry about the lack of blogging but I've been busy during the day in my studio (fittings all day yesterday) and busy at night with lot's of music. We met ROCCO DELUCA saw him play again and took him over to see Clem who was in town from Blondie playing with Kathy Velentine's Band The Blue Bonnets. Everyone was there we had an amazing time and I have lots of photos. I have a photo of Mark an Rocco now but I didn't turn out that great so I best not post. We have also had a band in the recording studio for 10 days arg!!!
This was a very special event that not a lot
of people knew about. It was amazing!! Like seeing Jeff Buckley....that kind of amazing! Friends from Blondie were there and it was very decadent. I love going to Justine's. Here's a pic. I'm at the front sitting with the beautiful Justine. I will blog more later on the Nellcôte Sessions. Nellcôte was where the Stones Exile on Mainstreet was recorded in the South of France.
I have fittings tomorrow with our little starlet model and it looks like I'll be going out of town. Not sure yet.
I hate to ruin the good photography with posting the bad. This is tonight...... in my robe putting on my make-up. I'm getting ready to go to Justine's for a benefit. I always check my make-up with my iphoto cam- Some are quite scary but tonight I'm feeling pretty good.
I should have more photo's this week of the partays. If your vision is bad like mine I strongly suggest this technique.
More photos by our fabulous friend Chris Durst- I think I was just happy to finally be in air conditioning. You can tell I'm a true redhead freckle face in these pics- You can see more under Lifestyles on his website. Click on the link in the previous blog. * Mark and his Band are in the Music Series

Renowned Designer Linda Asaf, Founder and Director of Brilliant Magazine Lance Avery Morgan, Owner of Austin mainstay Blackmail Gail Chovan and Designer of Boudoir Queen Dawn Younger-Smith considered creativity/innovation, quality of work/craftsmanship and commercial appeal/marketability in scoring and determining the “Showcase” designers. Based on design aesthetic, the top scoring designers were matched up with boutiques, salons and spas and given creative license to envision and execute an Austin Fashion Week event.
Austin Fashion Week culminates in a big blow out bash with the Austin Fashion Awards. I will be doing a big blog on this fabulous photographer friend of ours. He is divine !
With the recent release of Hole’s first album in 12 years, and new(ish) ramblings about being Kate Moss’s lover, it seems thatCourtney Love has found a way to fling herself, tick-like, into the media once again.
So, in an attempt to stay sane as Courtney’s face continues to plague us, we proudly present: Five Things We Can Stand About Courtney Love. (And they said it couldn’t be done!)
1. She shops indie. Though she caught onto Etsy.com at least three years after the rest of us, we have to give her a hand for supporting all things handmade. Courtney has name-dropped a few of her favorite Etsy designers on numerous occasions, and one seller even implied that Courtney was downright easy to work with. We’ll have to check with her bandmates on that one, but at least she’s supporting independent designers. BoudoirQueen seem to be among her faves.
2. She introduced us to the feathered ankle cuff. The feather ankle cuff is perhaps the biggest “why-didn’t-we-think-of-that?” object of the century. Courtney wears them proudly, even around the house. While we’re uncertain about the success rate of wearing such a thing on the street (especially the outrageously embellished numbers that Ms. Love is so taken with), the concept is certainly intriguing.
3. She did head-to-toe beige before the rest of us. Courtney showed up at Rodarte’s most recent show wearing an ensemble of beige… and there was nothing boring about it. While it’s difficult to say whether she’s following this trend or setting it, we can agree that she lends a rock sensibility to something normally synonymous with “tame.”
A couple of things- right now we are in the process of moving everything over to our website. We mainly sell there and have really out-grown Etsy. We also do a lot of wholesale now and will be adding a wholesale section for store owners to log in (private on the website. I may even close my Etsy for awhile. Right now we are working on the fashion show only! The line-up is really grand and we are thrilled to be a part of it. We have put a few things on sale and will not be listing new until fall- I'm excited about part of our website being private mainly because of the huge knock off situation. I'll be posting more photos soon. The last pics were from party 2 and we went to 5.
I wanted to mention this but I'm sure most of you fashion girlie's know....designers don't really put out any collections in July because we are all busy working on our Fall collections. Boudoir Queen will not be listing any new designs until the 25th of August. I know all my clients are eagerly waiting to see the fall clothes. I'm super excited too.
Last night we all went to Perla around 6:00 for oysters,Ceviche, huge shrimp cocktails and amazing cocktails. Then a fashion show Pixel Pop at the Mohawk to see a friend. The below foto was taken after that at the East Side Showroom by my friend Lathan who is here from L.A. I'm soooo over that place. It's not as fun as it used to be. Not to mention it takes forever to get food and drink. We lasted 10 minutes and high tailed it over to our friend Pierre's place Justine's. Everyone is going there now. It's awesome! We love it and get the royal treatment. All of our friends were there and we stayed till 3. We had dinner at 1:00 a.m. Bad! This is one of the few places you can get a full meal late at nite. This week I'm starting the master cleanse. Despite going out every single nite I did manage to work out but I'm feeling pretty worn out. I'm suppose to go to another event tonight but no way!!!
BTW we have our own paps now haha- Our new photog friend who moved here from San Diego go's everywhere with us and photographs. I should have a lot of new pics on Monday. Also I'm am flipping over my fashion news which I will be spilling soon. I also have a local rep now!
I'm going for a walk today and watching old movies with Mark- It's a beautiful day.
Met the guys from the Fleshtones and they are really nice. The bottom pic is Me and Danny who's touring with Lemmy.I have ton's of fotos coming 5 parties this week! Maybe another tonight-) BTW this was the night we left early do to me starting to melt-
The picture says it all! Last night's party was awesome! This mornings sneek peek and the new collection for the fashion show was awesome! Now I need to figure out what to wear tonight.
Last night I almost fainted from the heat...I'm not kidding.
I mentioned in my previous blog that the Bastille Day Party at our friend Pierre's is tonight. It is of course a bit of a costume party. I would love to wear my big pink Marie Antoinette wig-Now would be my chance to wear all my Marie Antoinette garb. The truth is I'm too tired from last night's party. We also have the launch party and Mark's acoustic show tomorrow night. I think I'm going to be boring and dress low key tonight. Not to mention, I got eaten alive by those pesky little skeeters that love me so much last night. We are having dinner at Justine's and probably heading home after the band plays. The band consists of some of Mark's very old friends so it should be interesting. Over 200 people will be there. I will be the one in the pink sunglasses (my new uniform) BTW I have had so many complements I'm buying them in green and black. I can't stop wearing these silly glasses!! LOLZZZ
Last night our group the Manifesto Society party was amazing!! I'm posting another one of my funky phone photos but there will be tons of pics up online. We did a really fun group photo about 75 of us ...it may end up on the cover of a fun publication in Austin-) A lot of people flew in from L.A. and there were tons of people from the music industry. I met a lot of new people and enjoyed seeing my old friends as well. My friend who is really good friends with David Lynch was there and yes it's true......she will be the Torch Singer in the Secret Circus! She is gorgeous and talented and I'll be talking more about her in the future. There was a lot of people from the early Faith No More crowd which was fun for Mark. That band opened and toured for Billy. Remember the band Lords of the New Church? I haven't thought about that band in years and it was fun to reminisce. Stray Cats- you name it it was loads of fun. Tonight at Justines they are having a big party for Bastille Day. They have a faux guillotine set up. I think we are going for sure. Here is a pic of some of us girls. Jorie performed on a swing that hung from the ceiling. She has modeled for me in the past. I'm using her again she looks fabulous!
