Moved in the mini mansion today. The house is officially mine. It's registered with the historical society. I have tons of history that I'll share later. 3 more truck loads to go. The kitties are in shock. I'm sleeping here tonight yahooooooooo! It feels so good to be here! Happy happy happy!
Our Blog will be dark for the next couple of weeks unless something really big pops up which is highly possible. Our online shops are closed until late August. All of our custom orders have been shipped out as of today. If you need to contact me please do so thru my website. For those of you who have my email address I'll be checking my mail. I do have wireless broadband on my laptop and I can check my mail anytime anywhere. I am thinking about switching cable/phone companies so there might be a few days I won't have internet access. Once I get settled in the new house I'll be posting pictures! xoxox BQ
We went out to our house today. I'm moving in next week. All of the furniture was out and it is so huge that I actually got lost in it. It has so many doors and they were closed which threw me off a bit. It also has two main entrances which is unusual. After seeing it again today empty I'm over the top excited. We have a gardner who's been working on the keeping the place looking good. I heard today there has been some ghost sightings (footsteps) spooky.
On a fashion note I can't believe we got to make a few very special things for the Cavalli shoot. More to be revealed. Everything is going so well I couldn't be happier.
I couldn't help but notice that Sarah was wearing the same Marni Shoes I wore to Fash week Austin - I love those shoes! I packed them ever so carefully! The appraisal came in on the house and we are good to go! My son will be here this weekend and I should be out by the 1st woooohooooooo!
During this period of waiting to move in the house we've been trying to get out a little. Today we went to the Alamo Drafthouse and saw The Tree Of Life. The movie was filmed all around Texas. Austin, Dallas and Houston. There are some scenes at Barton Springs and Hamilton Pool. The last scenes are all filmed in our new neighborhood and you can see snipets of what the neighborhood looks like. We even saw our friend Weston from White Ghost Shivers in the movie. It was a beautiful and intense movie that should be seen in the theater. A must see!
True Grit was really good but my favorite western is The Assassination Of Jesse James. For a couple of years now I've been just listening to the soundtrack while I work. If you haven't seen this movie you should.
Further information: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (soundtrack)
The music for the film was composed by Australian musicians Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Both men also collaborated to create the award winning score for the Australian film The Proposition in 2005.
Nick Cave has a minor part in the latter stages of the film, playing a strolling balladeer in a crowded bar, where, unrecognized by the other patrons, Bob Ford must endure the humiliating lyrics of "The Ballad of Jesse James" as performed by Cave
Cave and Ellis released a double disc album titled White Lunar in September 2009, which contains several tracks from the Jesse James score, as well as tracks they composed for other films up to 2009.
Packing up some things that I adore- My Christian Lacroix catsuit is inspiring. I was looking online hoping to find a photo of it and came across these images instead. I blogged some of these images when the collections first came out. These are some of my all time favs!
I'm packing up vintage COMME des GARÇONS
Christian Lacroix ,Thierry Mugler
Azzedine Alaïa and oodles of Victorian and 20's fabulousness right now- I can't wait to hang it all in the new studio.
The first photo is the picture of my first apt in Hollywood Hills famously known as Whitley Heights. I lived on Whitley. My apt was the one on the left first floor. It had a murphy bed and ornate rounded windows. I was in the Murphy bed when we had a very large earthqauke. It was crazy. I was 24 at the time working as a make-up artist for Sebastian. Right on the corner was the Sunset Boulevard film location: the digs of hard-up screenwriter Joe Gillis: Alto Nido Apartments, 1851 North Ivar Street, Hollywood. I lived all over hollywood and Los Feliz. In the late 80's I owned 2 horses which I boarded at Sunset Ranch by the Hollywood Sign. We rode the horses up in the hills it was great. My friend who passed away Barbara (the jewelry designer) I've mentioned) had horses there as well. Everyday we went riding. I'll post photos of me and the horses when I get all moved in. Here are some famous houses in the area-
When decorating and looking for inspiration........it's always fun to run across something you actually own. In the 1st pic I own a fabulous black étagère like the one in the photo. In fact mine is much prettier. It comes to a point with ornate carvings at the top. Although the decore in photo 1 is way too gaudy for my taste it's interesting to see the piece. In photo number 2 I have the exact deco rug. Same size and motif. This photo is a lot like my old living room in my house in Hollywood Hancock Park. I even have these fabulous pale pink chairs that every antique collector that has seen them wants. Mine are 20's and gorgeous. I bought them when I worked at Golyester the most decadent vintage clothing store there is in L.A.
Everyone is shooting their collections right now. I'm thrilled to be a part of it. Hopefully I'll be opening the September Vogue including Italian and seeing some of our work. Our pretties are off to the big editorial shoot yay!
Now more packing moving day is creeping up very soon. I really can't believe I'm getting this glorious house. It's so pretty. Especially the inside. It's perfect for us in every way.
