*Don't you just love the Boudoir Dolls at the foot of Norma Desmond's bed I was asked to do a 10 page editorial shoot for Septembers Zink Mag which I adore. I had to say no I'm so bummed. I'm totally overwhelmed with work right now and we have our fittings this Saturday in Austin. I did hear the Bust Mag shoot went well so I'm excited about that. I have some of our new editorial photos and I will try to post sometime this week so please stay tuned xoxox P.S. I'm taping the YNN news segments at the Driskill Hotel tomorrow. They will air on the day of my show the 16th every hour with other designers as well.
Two of my favorite actresses and two of my favorite movies. Both made in the same year and both with academy award nominations. The designs for Gloria Swanson and Bette Davis were both designed by Edith Head. All About Eve won.
The day of my show will have fashion segments on the news every hour. Airing in over 400,000 homes. A different station this year I'm quite excited. Unfortunately I was waiting around to get my hair cut and colored until around the 13th. Looks like I have to be camera ready for filming in a couple of days. I have a lot of exciting news that you will all hear about after fashion week. I won't be keeping up with my blog as much and I may go ahead and close the Etsy shop because I don't have time to anwer all the questions right now. Those of you who pre order pop me an email soon. xo BQ
I'm ready for fashion week. My mother is coming to visit to see the new house and come to my fashion show and awards show. I'm ready to get it all out of the way. I'll be in Los Angeles the month of September and then New York for a few days. I'm excited! xo
The Greatest costume designer of them all. I have several sketches signed by her that I've collected over the years. Obviously my favorite designs were on Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd. She was also Alfred Hitchcock's favorite designer and I do love all the of the wardrobe design in the movie The Birds. I'd sure love to have her resume! Wow Edith Head's style was very popular during the 80's.
On my much deserved payday I like to do something special so today I'm taking the day off and having some fun! "I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow" is my motto for today. Actually I'm taking time off until next Monday ;)
So I'm working and I had What Ever Happen to Baby Jane on and it suddenly hit me that my fabulous robe is just like the one Bette Davis is wearing in the 2nd scene sans the rosettes! The back is exactly like it. I'm having a hard time finding a full length image of it online. I've been on a Bette Davis Jag the past few days and have watched all her movies while I'm working. Love her. I may want to keep the robe now ;/
