We have been busing making new pretties for sxsw. I will have new offerings soon. I've been busy with personal issues this week so I had to put a few things on hold. I'll post photos of my new hair when I get dressed up again lol. I really changed it. It's dark at the root rose mauve all over with blonde ends. It makes my eyes pop a lot more but I really changed it because I'm sick of going to the salon every 3 weeks for four hours. I like it I have to adjust to not really being blond although knowing my hair it will fade probably to silver. Had a great time at Justine's Wednesday night and then yesterday was complete madness. Stay tuned Cheers, BQ
I'm on a huge veil kick as I mentioned in my blog last week. I will rock them during SXSW. I just bought a black one with black stars. I also love birdcage veils but it's really hard to find the good ones. Watch My Little Princess and you will see a lot of amazing examples of some wired ones.
So I like this red carpet arrival photo because two of my customers are in it Rosanna and if you look in the background you see a pretty young lady with black hair and a white flower. That is Zoe and she has purchased several BQ dresses and bonnets. My son if friends with this family. Congratulations to Patricia well deserved.
We made this dress for Karen Elson to wear on stage at SXSW with Jack White. She's wearing here. I couldn't get a full image it was to crowded however, we got the concept for the dress from the slip below- read more on my FB
595- for the set Made in France and sold at I.Magnin. The gown features hand stitched purple trim and appliques. Sexy bias cut. I think this gown is too pretty to be kept in the bedroom and would make a fantastic dress for going out in.
Cadolle was established in 1889 in Paris and is famous for making custom corsets and lingerie.
"Cadolle started out at the end of the 19th century, during the period that followed the Second Empire in France and is often known as ” La Belle Epoque” or ” The Beautiful Era”.
In 1889 French seamstress Herminie Cadolle packed her bags and leaft for Buenos Aires where she opened a lingerie boutique. A clever business woman, her boutique became the meeting place for the most fashionable women of the country.
During the World Exhibition of 1889 Hermine showed her new invention, the “corselet gorge”, essentially the first bra.
More than a hundred years onwards, not much has changed. Cadolle, now run by the fifth generation and headed by Poupie Cadolle, still sells hand-made, highly crafted couture lingerie. Faithful to the principles of the company, Poupie sees each of her clients herself. It is not unheard of to have to wait a while for an appointment, but like her mother and grandmother before her, she continues to be much-loved by her clients.
Each Cadolle couture product is either produced from the existing collection or is created completely bespoke based on the customer’s ideas and needs. Shapes, fabrics, colours and trimmings can all be completely customized.
If indulgence, craft and tradition are what you are after, it doesn’t get better than this!"
Up early today and up all night hand sewing for the shoot today! Huge day I will not be posting images. I have another shoot as well and we are sewing all week. It's for SXSW so I'll be listing new items next month. P.S. I've started posting all of the SXSW events I'll be attending and working on my Twitter account join me there if you are local or attending. xo BQ
I really starting getting into Dorian Gray when I was doing a fashion show and someone came up to me and said "You are the Dorian Gray of Fashion" I'm not really sure what that meant. I'm still not sure. I know the story but that was an odd comment. I do like this version the best. Dorian Gray is a 2009 British fantasy-thriller drama film based on Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. It's pretty true to the fashion of the day. I love that this story takes place the same year that my house was built 1891. I'm not a huge Colin Firth fan mainly because he usually plays the good guy but he plays "wicked" very well. He's great in this movie.
So it's most def make over time right before SXSW. I was thinking about chopping my hair but have decided against it. NO WAY it took way too long to grow out. I want my hair just like this fabulous photo of Abbey Lee in the new W magazine that just came out. Next week I'm seeing my stylist and having it done. Then I'm going to the derm and getting a refresh ;) I bought this fabulous vintage museum piece (I'm not going into detail about it yet) but I'm wearing to my friends wedding. Very Rock n Roll vintage. My diet that I mentioned is coming along and now I'm back to my normal weight around 127 so I can wear my clothes again yay. Until SXSW I'm on a uber health food phase. One thing I live by is CHLORELLA. I buy it from the be yummy company from NYC (in my austinfusion beauty article). You have to get the really good stuff it all depends on the crop how good the Chlorella is. It's great for your immune system I highly recommend! Oh and a lot of exercise and I love having a little gym in my home especially for Yoga. Yoga is everything! I'll post a pick before SXSW. Cheers, Have a fabulous day!
When we were in L.A. The series The Knick was starting. Everywhere you went there were huge billboards on display. The series is really good so far. If you like period clothing as most of my customers do I highly recommend.
