I just put a video up on Facebook from my Haunted House shoot. I've made it public so you can view. All of the garments are available now on ETSY. I can't wait to do our next shoot with Cali when she arrives from New York. The house was vacant when we did the shoot its at the end of the block a huge mansion the Howard Hand House. It just sold for around a million dollars. This neighborhood is out of control with people buying up all the property. We were even considering selling because our home is one of the nicest and is still original and it has a Historical Marker. It's a tempting thought to flip it but I doubt I could find anything I liked better. Check out the video FB friends;)
So tomorrow we start back with our new business venture. It's taking more time than expected just for the first initial details. My son will be arriving from Los Angeles next week as he's helping us with a few things. I'm so ready to get this show on the road. A few Boudoir Queen details/ just for future reference we do NOT make costumes unless its for a movie or music video. I should have put a post up about this weeks ago it would have saved me a lot of time. If you need a costume LMK and I can refer you to crafters/costumers that do Halloween costumes. We only design fashion Collections each season. We do offer vintage some of which could be a costume on Etsy and our website which we will be updating. We also do not do custom orders with the exception of 3 items which are the bridal gown from VOGUE on Karen Elson / the Boudoir Signature Bed Jacket as seen in Vogue / and the listing as seen in Vogue Italia. (the bridal gown we have sold a lot in white and off white) and it takes 6 weeks. One more important item..... my studio is next door to the post office so I'm up on all the latest changes. We just shipped to New Zealand and Scotland last week. The postmaster told my assistant that any item going priority outside of the USA starts at 50.00 and goes up. We only ship priority so to all my overseas buyers please keep this in mind. Many have been buying in bulk to ovoid paying so much. Ive only lost 2 packages in all the years I've been online since 1997. Those were not priority and sent first class so we have a rule priority insured only. We have many new dresses perfect for holiday parties new coming soon. Ok thats all for now xo BQ
October marks 15 years that my husband and I have been together. He bought me these fabulous boots I've been lusting over as a love token. I'd rather have these than jewelry. I'm a shoe junkie. I can't wait to wear them on my birthday trip. Btw I did finally break down and wear my Miu Miu Velvet boots to Mark's Birthday Party at Justine's. If they can survive there they can take anything and they still look perfect. They can be viewed here and on my Instagram account.
I've post several blogs over the years about one of my all time favorite movies The Loved One. Check out Liberace. This is a must see if you have never experienced it before. I have it in my movie collection. I might watch it today if I get a chance.
Had a great weekend getaway so nice to be offline for several days. Got back just in time to see The Abominable Dr. Phibes. This movie is so weird. Love it! Cool fashion too-Long thought dead, the victim of a horrible accident, Dr. Anton Phibes (Vincent Price) still lives, surrounded by art-deco bric-a-brac and attended by mute beauty Vulnavia (Virginia North). Outwardly normal in appearance, Phibes actually wears a rubber mask, covering his hideously deformed countenance; giving away the artifice is the fact that, when he dines, he takes his food through his neck rather than his mouth. Able to speak only when plugging a wire into his damaged vocal chords, Phibes elucidates his plan to murder the medical team whom he holds responsible for the death of his wife. Each of the killings is patterned after the ten deadly plagues. Phibes saves his worst for last: trapping chief surgeon Dr. Vesalius in his lair, Phibes forces the hapless medico into a race against time to save the life of his own son.
A few years ago I did a show (photo 3) I have to admit I did it better. I'm not loving how they have shown this look (photo 2) to me it looks sloppy. I do love the rest of the images tho- I'm excited about rocking this look for fall. I never listed any of the items in the photo online except the brooch which I still have so I'm going to wear this for sure.
Attention Boudoir Queen Etsy customers: I'm posting this on all my social media. My Etsy email we discovered has been going to spam for two months. Most of my customers contact me direct so I was unaware of this and I sell on my own website as well. I had tons of offers and people wanted to hold items and I wasn't notified. Over 100 unread email. I could have sold several items 3 times over! ;( I wondered what was going on with my mail I have over 27k emails in my box for things I need to keep. I have contacted everyone but I feel terrible about this! Especially new customers. I will manually check everyday and have tried to fix the problem. Thanks xo
The good news is I'm listing new items online the bad news is I'm unhappy with the way all the velvet pieces photographed. I hate doing photos in the red part of the house and I wasted about 4 hours shooting 20 pieces and I don't want to use the photos. I'm shooting the velvet goldmine on a model outside. Victorian houses are very dark and the ceilings have wallpaper that shadow in every room except where I took photos....oh well.....I had to totally lighten these images.I can see why my house was once a brothel it's very dark. Anyway I have way more but the black dress has a cream lace back and I have another one thats even better but I'm waiting of my model before I post- I have deep plum, emerald green, brown fuchsia with fringe it goes on and on and lots of coats. Stay tuned contact me direct
Hi everyone, just a brief update. It's funny how when things don't turn out exactly as planned you find out something much larger was meant to happen. Many times I don't like to talk about things on-line until after the fact because of this. One of the reasons our friend from L.A. came is because Mark was suppose to play Vegas with Billy at The Mandalay Bay hotel on Mark's Birthday. The dates didn't work out and so our friend came here instead and because of this our "big new venture" is going to happen. We saw our Austin Lawyers yesterday and so far (fingers crossed) we have the green light. So many things to do and it will take at least 4 months to get licensing and all that. I'll say more later as I don't want to jinx it. We are so thrilled I cannot even tell you and I hope it works out. Meanwhile I found out the woman who did all the photos for my article said she sent in four different stories and the publisher only got back with her on mine which means my article will probably be out earlier than I had thought. All that being said we are photographing some new items that I bought a couple weeks ago. I just hardly have any time for Boudoir Queen anymore. I have a stock pile of gorgeousness here just need to get in the mood. I have changed my mind on one thing though. I will not be designing anything this Fall. I might do a few things here and there but I'm mainly focusing on the vintage I'm listing. Thanks to everyone who has been buying privately now. It makes my life so much easier. Wish us luck and follow my instagram it's happening and check my blog and Etsy this week for more. Im going to post those velvet pieces. xoxo BQ
