It's been a whirlwind couple of days OMG!! Oh and yesterday was Billy's Birthday too. Are any of you watching our friends on Rock Wives? Hilarious! I'm a rock wife and being a designer I'm having a tough time with the "rock style" but whatever. It was fun seeing our best man at Steve's wedding. If you aren't watching the show then you will have no idea what I'm talking about sorry. Tomorrow is our walk thru with the set designers and partners for the Secret Circus. This venue is amazing- more later
For the last few months I've been hinting around about my "New Look" Well today I'm happy to announce that the fabulous Alexandra Valenti will be giving us just that. She's shooting our 2011 lookbook. You may know her from the fabulous photos from The gorgeous Sisters of The Black Moon site. Here are a few of her photos and you can see her gorge website here. I've been wanting to share but things have been a little hectic in case you haven't heard. http://alexandraintheforest.com/
favorite muse of the late unsurpassed photographer saloniste' and arbiter of high decadence Steven Arnold. Dawn would be seen around Hollywood looking like a tall blonde Cocteau statue wearing the most incredibly put together looks we had ever seen. I'll never forget her dress composed of an Aleister Crowley collage and her bat-wing false eyelashes. Her collections have been inspired by such diverse unique souls of the past such as kiki de Montparnasse, Marchessa Casati and the great Erte' who was a friend. Her sense of style is also very reminiscent of the great Italian designer Donella Donati who did the costuming for Fellini's films. Dawn was doing Edie Sedgwick style and fashion shoots way before there was ever a movie.I introduced her to Bobby Neuwirth Edie"s long time boyfriend and close friend of Bob Dylan famous for writing "Oh lord wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz" Dawns instinct for the unique and the pleasing permeate her work and the atmosphere she invokes around herself.

In the 60's Joanne also did the light shows for Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
"Dawn's clothing and accessories have a lot of soul. That's getting harder and harder to find in the fashion world these days"

Renowned Designer Linda Asaf, Founder and Director of Brilliant Magazine Lance Avery Morgan, Owner of Austin mainstay Blackmail Gail Chovan and Designer of Boudoir Queen Dawn Younger-Smith considered creativity/innovation, quality of work/craftsmanship and commercial appeal/marketability in scoring and determining the “Showcase” designers. Based on design aesthetic, the top scoring designers were matched up with boutiques, salons and spas and given creative license to envision and execute an Austin Fashion Week event.
Austin Fashion Week culminates in a big blow out bash with the Austin Fashion Awards. Recognizing the finest from the Austin fashion scene, Golden Boot Awards will be presented for People's Choice Awards, Critics' Choice Awards, and for the first time this year, Peer Choice Awards, on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in Dell Hall at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Also on the runway, regional standouts including last years’ Critic’s Choice Best Designer Winner Rene Geneva Design and her stunning, eco-friendly women’s wear; Houston based, Project Runway Season 2 Winner Chloe Dao’s modern, sexy and sophisticated garments; and Boudoir Queen’s decadent reconstructed vintage looks.
Me-Photo By Steven Arnold 1989 L.A. Weekly Boudoir Queen Photo Taken by Steven Arnold 1989 A few days ago I received an apology about snarky remarks left on my blog. Just as I thought a certain person put this unknowing person up to it.This is part of the ongoing harassment I've had to endure over the past few years. I'm not going to post the letter. I thought it interesting she mentioned she thought my designs were clearly inspired by early Alexander McQueen Designs. I thought this would be a good blog topic and a chance to talk about my true mentor. As much as I liked Alexander McQueen I can say without a doubt he was never an inspiration for Boudoir Queen designs. Steven Arnold has always been my inspiration along with the Art Dolls. Working with Steven was the most creative period of my life thus far. I love the photos below and I even see some Gaga in his Luminouos Procuress movie. Photo below-Steven and Dali
I'm really looking forward to tonight's house call. I'm so ready to get rid of my Anna Wintour looking hair style. Brandi always does an amazing job. As you can see by the photos my dear friends the Peaches are responsible for Brandi's faboo website. They are also doing all of the Fashion week write-up and art. They are so amazing and I'm lucky to have them in my life!
