If these walls could talk they would tell you that this is a stunning authentic Victorian. A Victorian is not a Victorian if it's been gutted. All authenticity gone. Number one on the worst things to do to a vintage home is strip it of its history and charm. One of the worst examples is Victorian cabin tract houses. When I lived in California outside of Los Angeles there are many tract housing developments. Mostly Spanish style which is so popular in L.A. but then there are the dreaded Victorian wanna be tract homes. Not only are they like something out of Edward Scissor hands but not in a good way. They are just terrible in my opinion. I'm not being snobbish. When Dylan was little we needed a house fast and bought a new home in a housing development in Valencia. It was a beautiful area but I hated it there. No character. I do like the Spanish style homes. The only reason I was even some what willing to move out into the country was that our Victorian was original untouched since the 20's other than a steam shower. It was also a bit trendy at the time but those days are over. It was worth giving up the city life for such a great house. After almost 10 years I'm over country living. Luckily we did invest into a house that was authentic so selling is not an issue. I looked at so many in Texas, Los Angeles and New Orleans. If were to rent I would want an even older home as I would not be footing the bill for problems that come along with owning an old home. I cannot imagine giving up city life to live in a ghastly cabin full time unless forced. Maybe some people like that sort of thing along with Renaissance fairs and hot tubs ICK. I think a lot of people just dont know the difference between old and new sadly. We are currently house hunting its very draining. The more I look the more I realize what great house we have. So many are so chopped up. This time I'm going for something smaller. My house has a lot of up keep. I'll post about some of my finds. We have two areas we are looking into. Not in Texas of course. I hope I can find what I'm looking for. I do know Im done with the Green Acres thing.
